Giorgos Katsinis was born on June 8th 1991 in Athens and had his first kart experience at the age of 9. Immediately he became hooked and it wasn’t long since he started competing in the Greek kart championship.
By 2003 he was a front runner in the national Mini series just missing out on the title. The following year he progressed to the ICA Junior category and once again he fought hard for the title ending up vice champion once more. Giorgos clinched his first title in 2005 when he won the ICA Junior championship.
Since then he has been unbeatable in all Greek and South Eastern European categories that he competed. In 2006 he claimed the Greek Rotax Junior and the South Eastern European ICA Junior titles, while in 2007 he retained his South Eastern European crown this time in the ICA category. A visit in that year’s Formula BMW World Final in Valencia convinced Giorgos that this was the category that he should make his car debut.
He spent the following season practicing with Formula BMW cars in various Spanish circuits while back in Greece he claimed yet another kart title, this time by dominating the national KZ2 category. At the end of the year he took part on the Formula BMW Scholarship shoot out where he stood out and claimed a place in the BMW Junior drivers’ squad. This is the first time that a Greek driver managed such an achievement.
